2. A 100-pound person on Earth would weigh 38 pounds on Mars.
3. A car traveling 100 mph would take more than 29 million years to reach the nearest star (to our solar system)
4. A comet's tail always points away from the sun.
5. A lightning bolt generates temperatures five times hotter than those found at the sun's surface!
6. All of the Earth's continents are wider at the north than in the south - and nobody knows why.
7. Any space vehicle must move at a rate of 7 miles per second in order to escape the earth's gravitational pull.
8. Approximately 115 tons of ocean salt spray enters the earth's atmosphere each second.
9. Astronauts cannot burp in space.
10. Astronauts get taller when they are in space.
11. If you went out into space, you would explode before you suffocated because there's no air pressure.
12. In space, astronauts cannot cry properly, because there is no gravity, so the tears can't flow down their faces!
13. It takes eight and a half minutes for light to get from the sun to earth.
14. Jupiter's moon Ganymede, is larger than the planet Mercury!
15. Lightning strikes about 6,000 times per minute on this planet!

19. Some asteroids have other asteroids orbiting them.
20. The Earth gets 100 tons heavier every day due to falling space dust.
21. The Earth gets heavier each day by tons, as meteoric dust settles on it.
22. The earth is .02 degrees hotter during a full moon.
23. The earth rotates more slowly on its axis in March than in September.
